LOWER DANUBE. Imitations of Thasos. Late 2nd-1st Centuries BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 34 mm, 15.40 g, 12 h). Celticized head of Dionysos to left, wearing wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. Celticized Herakles standing front, head to right, holding club in his left hand and lion skin in his right; imitative legend around. Dembski -. Flesche -. Lanz -. Lukanc -. OTA Class III. Darkly toned. A very rare variety. Somewhat rough and with light scratches and some horn silver, otherwise, nearly very fine.
